Thanks in part to your support, Niki Tsongas won yesterday's special election in Massachusetts. Thank you for your contributions! Late last night, the final result showed Niki Tsongas the victor in a close race. She won with a 51% majority of votes, compared to Jim Ogonowski's (R) 45%.

Senate Republicans continued their recalcitrant ways yesterday, refusing to allow a vote on the Levin-Reed amendment to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq. The amendment to the Defense Authorization bill would have required that the U.S. begin troop withdrawal within the next 120 days and have most troops out of Iraq by next spring.
