The past week has produced more confirmation of the depth of the Iraq disaster – including official statements that further undercut the Bush Administration’s nostrums on the war. Most damning was a leaked assessment of global terrorism trends by U.S. intelligence agencies found that “the American invasion and occupation of Iraq has helped spawn a new generation of Islamic radicalism and that the overall terrorist threat has grown since the Sept. 11 attacks.”
